  The Sant Pau is one of these elite restaurants with 3* Michelin rating. My family and I visited the Sant Pau over Christmas and the experience was mind blowing. The restaurant is located in the sea front in Sant Pol de mar, the first village of Costa Brava (one can also say: the closer to Barcelona). From the beach entrance you can see the amazing kitchen where the magic happens and the fantastic terrace where in summer you can enjoy an apero or a drink after lunch. We ordered the menu set and it definitely was worth it. I could not tell which was the dish that impressed me the most as they were all amazing. The chestnut and truffle soup was just exquisit and the deer loin just melted as soon as it left the spoon. I remember I was not really impressed by the chocolate desert, but you know... they give you 3 deserts so just enjoy the other 2. It is not that it was bad, it just did not surprise me. The somalier was very knowledgable and actually a fun guy. He recommended me a great cava and a fantastic moscato for my mother. At the end of the dinner and as it is usual in this kind of restaurants, the chef: Carme Ruscalleda, came to talk to us to make sure we were happy. She is a peculiar woman and I was very pleased to see her live. We asked her whether we could visit the kitchen and she made sure members of the stuff would guide us through it. Definitely a good experience!

  I had an excellent dining experience with the 16 course tasting menu. The palate cleanser to start the dinner off was my birth year wine, which was an extra treat. Chef Ruscalleda came out to greet our table. I came from Atlanta, GA to eat here. I would come again.
